Dacia Nova Project - 07

It is completed!! After some slowly but surely six months of working between actual work and other projects it is done. Now for the rest of the car :)). It's funny to see that last year I was playing with some piston heads and 4 years ago I was finishing the V8 from my other car.. well now that I look at it, that one needs a lot of work.

It's been fun and a productive year, I couldn't leave this year without finishing it so hopefully next year we will have the complete cars ;).

CheeRS and a happy new year everybody!

Dacia Nova Project - 05

:< coming along...sloowwwwllyyy. But it's getting there.. I think. It's hard doing this when many other things are popping up in the daily life. A one liner from all the hacker movies made: I need more time! :)) Looks interesting so far, if I may say so myself.. but so much more to do :< all I can do is keep walking i guess.

Dacia Nova Project - 04

Even more parts and renders and tests. Since the last post, like the deadline of this project, I haven't kept my promise, if you read that you can see that a big bad double carb is missing :< . scares me to bits, but at least i have the parts to put it on, from what I have planed for this time I managed to do 25% :< . Will keep going until everything is bolted to anything ;) :).

Dacia Nova Project - 01

So it's like this: A new project emerged, kinda big, kinda small, long story short, I am going to model a specific car, inside-out, in 3 versions/configurations, the end product being to create 3 1/12 Dacia Nova car models for a car collector.

Sounds exciting, it's not a 250GTO or for a rich prince from the Emirates but, it's the first take of my first car model. Letting the already let aside Dacia SS project, this will take some time, months..years..idk; like everything in classic cars restorations it takes time and implication, especially when it will have an end result and a goal, something that I can't say about the Dacia SS project.

This is the first milestone..i think, working on it for a few weeks, being interrupted by all kind of other small projects and job searching..yeah. The main schedule being..engine and gearbox, for a preliminary 3d print test, followed by engine accessories, frame, car body, engine-body marriage, interior and trimming and the 3 models small variations.

Commercial photography | Rising from the ashes - A new start

It is up and running, people! After much research (but never enough) and some other events, the moment when you have to go all in or go home on something has arrived. Commercial, catalog, editorial, eCommerce, automotive beauty shoots and motorsport action shoots and all the bunch will happen from now. Maybe till next year, hopefully for years to come... Anywho, this is what it is for now. So, for those 2 3 people who stopped here from time to time, the posts here will be .. transferred to the main site blog ( witch as all start ups say, will post every week, hopefully). The post will be about, shoots, news, events, behind the scenes and the occasionally monkeying around. I am trying to get out of the corporate system, schedule thing, so i will try not to fell into it myself being all business and serious in the posts..will see what and when the hunger will dig in and end up making me work at McDonalds or something, joking.. or am I!?

Wrapping it up, like a late Christmas gift, things will be as followed:

Most of the pictures will be uploaded on Flickr
The best pictures will be uploaded on 500px too.
And the best of them and commisions and that are on the business subject and genre will be posted on the main web site BLKiCE-Photography.com
For behind the scenes and direct form the set things and moments and all the instagramy things, you guessed it, on Instagram
...and on LinkedIn and Behance i will be begging for jobs :D

Hopefully (lots of hope in this post, i feel like the pope) i didn't miss anything or forgot about where things will happen sooooo yeah.

Feel free to Like Share and Subscribe and contact me on any of the the above, below or the classical E-mail.

OH..i knew i forgot something --> Ze Facebook page <--
Like share and subscribe once again, leave comments and feedback about the Photographs, the Website, the Facebook Page or just say hello :)

CheeRS and we will "see" each-other on the other side.
Keep them shooting!

Xcsource ND part 2

Further testing the NDs. On top nd8,nd4 and graduated nd8, iso 100 F22 2s and wb..wait for it.. 8500 in full day light :D so yeah, damn things are blue. Some processing was added but just for fun, they do the job. The only thing is to keep them clean, a challenge when the filters get static charged.

And the second one, same nd stack, later in the day, iso 100 f22 100s. Looks decent, but again the filters have to be perfectly clean or some considerable time will be spent cloning out the specks on the photo. Nice moving clouds in a particularly not windy day.

Next up..some interesting subjects/buildings.

Xcsource ND Filters Kit Test

So i got this pile of things. Initially planing to get the Cokin kit (3 filters and a holder) but since I am only experimenting with this, I found this. Xcsource ND Filter Kit, I don't know if this is the maker or the seller but for sure is China. But at the same price of the Cokin kit, you get 6 filters, all of the lens adapters, a hood and a filter bag case thing. The adapter rings are ok, the filter bag is ok, the holder and the hood wish to be and elastic polymer plastic but didn't happen, it is kinda stiff, light and with a bit of brittle feeling. And u need to stretch the hood over the holder clips .. so fun. The holder grip is smaller then the filters, so again, fun. It stretches..i manage to get them all in but it's not what i call a quick thing if u want to use them again. And the filters i was expecting to be a glass thing..but it's a polymer. I know they are not quite Lee filters but never the less. With more research I found out the Cokin ones are polymer too. The graduations are ok but the coverage is not perfect, if you look really close, you can see transparent dots scattered here and there, like dead pixels. But does not affect the pictures .. i hope.

Maybe I will make a habit of this, reviewing chipo made in China gear, seeing really how bad is it, being inspired of Regular car reviews who does exactly what the name suggests and the quality and freestyle of Jared Polin aka Fro Knows Photo, hopefully. Speaking of which, Jared is giving away a full frame DSLR at your choice (D810, 5Ds or Sony A7RII) and many other things, all you need to do is to sign up HERE...right HERE.

after

So, first test. Mother of all long exposures ( of what my D300 can ). Big mess up, i forgot to turn on the long exposure noise reduction .. but here it is any way. First 30s and with all the nds (2,4,8) total of ND64, an exposure of 1h 22 min. Fist up, a blueish tint that goes on with the next tests. The WB was consistent for all the pictures, set up for the cloudy preset.

after

Next day, next test. Overcast day (as you do this time of the year) first picture exposed for the scene with a 1/60 f8. The ND used after was a the ND8 3 stop and an exposure of 1/6 f8...and lots of bonus blue tint. Nothing you can get out in post but the thing was supposed to be neutral.

before
after

Last but not least, the graduated filters. Exposed for the trees and buildings with a 1/30 f8 in the first picture, followed by a graduated ND8 on the top and trying to bring back the sky obviously with the same exposure. It has the same blue tint but for this one I am the most impressed because it really works. Maybe in the future or far future will upgrade to a pro kit or slowly building it up. But for black and white landscapes or for other future projects I think it will work out just fine.
Best wishes, have a productive week !

SS - #13: Out for a ride

Moving on but maintaining the "13th" theme and state of mind

Sunday, 13 September 2015

...what a day to end it all

At the end of it all, even if you bear its name, luck will leave you facing hopelessly the cold reality...on a dark September day, of 13th.

Saturday, 3 January 2015

It is possible to be so at sea when life and land have slipped under the horizon. I quietly wish to never see either again.
